Access to Care, Everywhere
Zocdoc

A healthcare moonshot with real gravity
context
For nearly 20 years, Zocdoc has made finding and booking doctors quick and easy through its app, but increasingly people are turning to search engines and AI to find care. So as Zocdoc re-introduced itself to the world, the company wanted to tell a bigger story — a story about how it was using its technology to make doctors bookable wherever patients look.
collaboration
SpecialGuest partnered with a cross-functional team at Zocdoc to create two films that announced the company’s next chapter, and explained what it meant for providers. Our sister company 1stAveMachine produced the films, with co-directors Marc Reisbig and Diego Berakha sharpening the narrative and elevating the design to make a complex story about access infrastructure simple and approachable.
concept
Our first film Moonshots is about a new brand of healthcare ambition. While other tech companies try to disrupt their way to what comes next, Zocdoc is focused on what comes first: getting the patient through the door, whatever that door looks like. The same technology that powers Zocdoc now connects to insurance directories, review sites, and AI platforms, so wherever you search, you can also book.
The second film Friction takes a minute to tell providers about the obstacles patients face getting care, and how Zocdoc’s new infrastructure removes those obstacles (incidentally, the same ones that keep practices from filling appointments). Why a minute? Because after just one minute on hold, 60% of patients look for another doctor. But Zocdoc doesn’t just help patients get seen. By making doctors bookable everywhere, it’s helping providers get seen too.
