Using tech to tell tell a deeply human story.

context

This was Google’s first-ever TV spot, and it premiered during the Super Bowl (no pressure). Instead of telling a grandiose story that vaguely ties back to the product, SpecialGuest used the actual Google interface to carry a simple but emotionally charged narrative. Parisian Love proved to be a national tearjerker and is still a major influence on Google’s style of storytelling.

collaboration

We joined forces with the team at Google Creative Lab for multiple rounds of concepting and development before we landed on this Occam’s Razor solution.

concept

Parisian Love is a story told entirely in search terms and results. Each entry leads to the next and unfolds a classic human romance: studying abroad in Paris, impressing a French girl, managing a long-distance relationship, and relocating permanently to start a family. Ad Age called it “one of the best campaigns of the 21st century,” and Time put it on its list of the “19 Best Super Bowl Ads of all Time.”
