Launching Qualcomm’s biggest brand campaign ever by collaborating with inventors to showcase Qualcomm technology in intriguing ways.

context

What do you do with a 30 year old company that has the most impactful technology on the planet, but people have never heard of it?

collaboration

At the center of Qualcomm’s business model is invention; therefore, all of its communications must show and support invention. To achieve Qualcomm’s goals as part of their biggest brand campaign, SpecialGuest created a new experiential program called Inventor Lab, where Qualcomm partnered with inventors and we showcased Qualcomm technology in intriguing ways.

concept

Artist and body architect Lucy Mcrae developed an installation that explores technologies to prepare humans for long distance space travel. NASA’s James Parr created a DIY, 3D printable telescope that uses smartphones to help amateur astronomers detect and categorize unspotted asteroids.

Inventor Lab traveled to major technology events, including Astronomy Night at the White House, Maker Faire, re/code, Wired, Bloomberg, and Quartz. Press was covered in local news channels and influential outlets like USA Today.

Through Inventor Lab, SpecialGuest helped demystify Qualcomm as a brand and shed light on its technological possibilities to audiences across the country.

As a result, we’ve seen a shift in the way audiences engage with the brand. Inventor Lab showcased inventive experiences where people could engage with the technology. Our collaborators on this series are some of the smartest people we know and good friends of SG, including Lucy McRae, James Parr, Marco Tempest, and Nicholas Hanna.
